 The aim of this study is to assess the heavy metals concentrations in wastewater used for  irrigation along Ginzo River in Katsina Town, Nigeria. The water samples were collected during the first week of March, 2020.Water samples were collected from Kofar Marusa, Kofar Durbi and Kofar Sauri. The samples were analyzed for pH, Pb, Fe, Cr, Cu, Cd, Mn, Ni, and Zn. The laboratory results were subjected to paired t-test of SPSS 16.00. The results obtained indicate that, statistical difference exist between wastewater and control. The concentration of Pb, Fe, Cr, Cd, Mn, Ni, and Zinc were found to be higher in the wastewater than in the control water, while both concentrations are above the maximum permissible limit given by WHO/FAO, FEPA and harmonized values. Copper (Cu) has a value below that of WHO/FAO, FEPA and harmonized values. The pH is within the range given by USDA. High levels of heavy metals in water sample may create heavy metals build up which may eventually enter into food chain through bioaccumulation. For a safer society, frequent monitoring of heavy metals levels in water, soil and plant vegetative biomass to ensure that they do not go beyond the limits of the regulatory bodies should be encouraged
