The present research empirically factored the perceived constraints affecting cassava production in Kwara State of Nigeria using 2018 cassava production seasonal undated data collected via administration of structured questionnaire complemented with interview schedule on 123 cassava farmers sampled through multi-stage sampling design. The collected data were duly analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings showed an economic active farming population in the studied area which has interest in cassava production but the diseconomies of scales due to the small size of their operational holdings made them have low-income base. Furthermore, the factors perceived to be affecting cassava production in the studied area were production, marketing, policy, institutional, political and environmental constraints. Therefore, the study advised government and non-governmental agencies to encourage farmers to make use of their social capital by pooling it viz. co-operative association in order to avail themselves the pecuniary advantages which will viably address most of the constraints affecting cassava production, thus boosting farmers income and cassava food security. In addition, the government is advised to introduce farmer to farmer’s extension approach in order to address the problem of inadequate extension contact, as doing so will increase adoption and dissemination of improved cassava technologies given that most of the farmers have a low educational level and will have more confidence in their peers than change agents
